The chiefdom where Children of the Nations is located has previously been known as the least developed chiefdom in all of Sierra Leone. It also is known as a place where witchcraft is very real and present. There is one village in our chiefdom that is known as the center for witchcraft in Sierra Leone. A place where the medicine man and the evil spirit world is used as a form of healing. This village is called Hemabu, and the Lord has been doing a great work in Hemabu.
In July, a children’s camp was help where some of the children from this village came to our camp. This village also requested, that COTN come to establish a church. The thought of a church in this village, formerly known for their evil witchcraft, is such an answer to prayer.
Two weeks ago, this same village sent a group of children, and 2 women to be baptized. The church is growing and there is more openness to the gospel.
Praise God for the tremendous work that He is doing in this place. In talking with the Pastor of the church, Uncle Mohamed, he said that no longer will Hemabu be known as a place of witchcraft, but they will be known as a village where Jesus is worshipped. Please pray with us, that this will be true. Pray for protection against the enemy for these new believers. Pray that their faith would be strengthened and deepened. Pray that they would be a living testimony to the others in their village.
