Pastor's Sorie funeral is today. Still not exactly sure how to process and grieve his loss. Not knowing what else to do, I wrote a letter to Pastor Sorie of what I would say to him, if I saw him one last time.
Pastor Sorie,
You are now in a place where your struggles have been turned into a royal crown. You are in a place where your oppressors and their lies no longer hold any power over you. You are in a place where you will rest forever singing praises to our Savior, to our King. You were a faithful servant to our Lord, even in spite of hardships and difficulties. You were faithful in the good and the bad. The Lord wants you home with him. He is rescuing you from those who wanted to destroy you. Those who saw your integrity and were shamed because it exposed their evilness. You will be missed, but we rejoice in the day when we will all stand before our Savior. The day when every tribe, tongue, and nation will sing praises to the Eternal King.
